Rising against the machines
Rey Trombetta

"We're nor 'avin' it!" shout the group at the end of the micro-opera they've created with composer Allison Willis over the last six weeks at Nottingham Playhouse. The new piece is a celebration of the courage and determination of the Luddites, who rose against the use of machines in textile work in 19th century England.

Here are some images of one of their recent sessions, working also with vocal leader Tim Lole. The micro-opera is now ready and will premiere on 19 July at the Playhouse.
