Elizabeth Kelly
Composer, Nottingham

Elizabeth is an American-British composer based in Nottingham, UK. Her music embraces a broad range of influences running the gamut from ‘majestic Wagnerian lines aggressively punctuated’ (Boston Musical Intelligencer) to ‘rasping jazzy exploration’ (The Guardian). Her compositions have been performed throughout North America and Europe. She is an Associate Professor in Music Composition at the University of Nottingham where she co-curates the Nottingham Forum for Artistic Research (NottFAR) new music series/educational outreach programme, and from autumn 2022, she will also serve as Head of the Department of Music.

I have lived in the Nottingham city centre since 2015. During that time, I have been privileged to see the powerful work that Streetwise Opera produces, including under very challenging conditions during the pandemic. I am really looking forward to collaborating with the community, Streetwise Opera team and fellow artists on a new micro-opera which celebrates and explores stories of city centre life.
