Happy New Year! We hope you had a nice time during the festive break. We are all very excited about how brilliantly the December previews of Re:sound went, and we are now ready to work on learning the three new micro-operas and putting together the final performances.
We've just published learning track videos for our last three micro-operas: Manchester Rain, Museum of Nottingham Life and No Ordinary City.
Also, we have now updated the schedules for our sessions during this term. Follow these links to check dates, time and address for London, Manchester and Nottingham.
Enjoy the term!
Welcome back! We are excited to begin the second term of Re:sound. We have now co-created six micro-operas, which we will learn during the next months.
Make sure to visit the Micro-operas section on the digital backstage, where you will find sing-along videos that will enable you to practise each piece ahead of our December performances.
Also, remember to check out the schedules for our sessions during this term, and to check back often for more news about Re:sound, including digital postcards from each Streetwise group.

Here is our latest rehearsal of Hustle Bustle, ahead of the sharing on 13 July. We are working with vocal leader Lucia Vernon-Long and with movement director Laura Dredger to put together an energetic and exciting performance.
We are very excited to announce that we've published the first learning track for the Re:sound micro-operas. This video enables us to sing along to Hustle Bustle, which was co-created by the Streetwise group at Southbank Centre and composer Ben See.
If you are a Streetwise London performer, you should sing along to this video as you practice ahead of our performance on 13 July at the Southbank Centre.
And if you are a composer from another region, you will learn this piece later on, for the final Re:sound performances in March 2023, so the learning track will come in handy then.
You can see the learning track here. Have fun singing!

We’ve finally been given the micro-opera City of Bee-ting Hearts, that was co-created by composer Emily Levy and clients from Women’s Direct Access Centre in Manchester. It’s a lovely piece that explores the spirit of our city.

Our micro-opera is almost ready! We are singing about the 19th century Luddite rebellion that saw textile workers in Nottingham rise up against the use of machinery. Working with composer Alison Willis and vocal leader Tim Lole has been great.

We had an amazing session last week with composer Ben See at the Southbank Centre. We are working on a micro-opera that explores the tension between commuters who just want to get on with their journey and environmental protesters who aim to save the world.

Here’s a bit of our last session with composer Nic Lewis. We are exploring messages that we want to share with the world via our micro-opera. Everyone’s voice and ideas are being listened to, and that makes our message stronger!

Here are some ambient sounds of the London Tube that we recorded for a performance of the operatic chorus Commuters at Southbank Centre. This piece was co-created by the Streetwise Opera London group and composer in residence Aurora Nishevci for the Opera Hour cycle in March 2019.
